KALIBRASI

Fenomena paling menggemparkan setelah perang dunia kedua ini sudah memasuki tahun ketiganya beberapa hari yang lalu. Ya, sekali lagi diawali dengan intro pandemi. Mau tidak mau, suka tidak suka terminologi ini sudah merasuk ke segala sendi kehidupan dan menjadi diktator sejati manusia manusia di muka bumi ini. 

The most shocking phenomenon after the second world war entered its third year a few days ago. Yes, once again starting with the intro to the pandemic. Like it or not,, this terminology has penetrated into all aspects of life and has become the true dictator of humans on this planet earth.

Di konteks soydivision, kami memulai tahun yang baru ini (sekali lagi) dengan kabut ketidakpastian. Semenjak bulan November kami sudah mulai mengalami lagi situasi di mana beberapa event mengalami pengunduran jadwal atau bahkan dibatalkan. Di bulan Desember situasi ini memanas, dan kemudian memuncak di bulan Januari ini. Situasi ini semakin semrawut dengan meroketnya angka infeksi COVID di berlin yang mengakibatkan beberapa kolega kami termasuk saya akhirnya terpapar varian omnikron. 

In the context of soydivision, we started this new year (again) with a fog of uncertainty. Since November we have started to experience another situation where some events have been postponed or even canceled. In December this situation heated up, and then peaked this January. This situation is further complicated by the skyrocketing number of COVID infections in Berlin which resulted in several of our colleagues including myself being exposed to the omnichron variant.

Ditengah kabut ketidakpastian ini, munculah seberkas aspirasi yang sebetulnya mulai diselentingkan kolega kami Azhari di akhir tahun kemarin. Dia bertanya satu proyek soydivision yang memang di tahun 2021 terbengkalai: soy&zine! Jawaban saya saat itu adalah alasan dimana kami mempunyai fokus lain seperti mencurahkan energi untuk mencoba membawa ide-ide proyek yang sudah ada, atau bahkan ide-ide proyek baru ke jenjang yang lebih “sustainable” (baca : mencari kesempatan – kesempatan funding). Alhasil memang energi itu lumayan membuahkan hasil. Di tahun 2021 kami berhasil mendapat dukungan besar untuk mengeksekusi format festival pertama kami KAUM, dan diikuti dua proyek teater eksperimental (Aryati dan KIAMAT) dan satu proyek riset “T_AKUT”

In the middle of this fog of uncertainty, a glimpse of aspiration emerged which, in fact, started to be rolled by our colleague Azhari at the end of last year. He asked about one soydivision project which was abandoned in 2021: soy&zine! My answer at that time was the reason that we had other focuses such as devoting energy to trying to bring existing project ideas, or even new project ideas to a more “sustainable” level (read: looking for funding opportunities). As a result, the energy is quite fruitful. In 2021 we managed to get great support to execute our first festival format KAUM, which was followed by two experimental theater projects (Aryati and KIAMAT) and one research project “T_AKUT”.

Efek samping dari fokus menulis belasan proposal dan mengeksekusi proyek-proyek ini salah satu (atau dua) nya adalah membuat proyek-proyek “passion” kami seperti soy&zine, soy&synth, bahkan lokarasa pun terbengkalai, atau tetap berjalan tetapi tidak maksimal dan terkesan asal jadi saja. Saya pribadi pun merasakan bahwa proyek seperti lokarasa dan soy&synth akhirnya berjalan sendiri-sendiri dan pada akhirnya menjadi “beban” ketika proyek tersebut harus dilaksanakan karena hanya alasan terpaksa sudah dijadwalkan. Tidak ada integrasi yang vokal di antara proyek-proyek ini, padahal di tahun sebelumnya (2020), kami sempat merilis soy&zine secara mingguan dan diiringi dengan menu baru lokarasa yang selaras dengan konten yang dirilis soy and zine saat itu. Dan setiap bulan diakhiri dengan event soy&synth yang menandakan semacam acara “syukuran” karena bulan itu sudah berakhir dan merayakannya dengan format live eksperimental musik.

One of the side effects of focusing on writing dozens of proposals and executing these projects is making our “passion” projects such as soy&zine, soy&synth, even some workshops format abandoned, or still running but not optimal and it seems like it just happened. I personally also feel that projects such as lokarasa and soy&synth end up running on their own and in the end become a “burden” when the project must be implemented due to the reason that it has to be scheduled. There is no vocal integration between these projects, even though in the previous year (2020), we had released soy & zine weekly and accompanied by a new menu of workshops that was in line with the content released by soy and zine at that time. And every month ends with a soy&synth event which marks a kind of “gratitude” event because the month is over and celebrates it with an experimental live music format.

KALIBRASI

Sentilan Azhari dan kerinduan akan aktivitas yang memang berlandaskan “passion” ini lah yang menjadi renungan “KALIBRASI”. Sepertinya ini saatnya kolektif ini mengkalibrasikan dirinya. Empat tahun lamanya kami berproses dan mencoba ini itu. Di satu sisi memang perkembangan ini organik, tapi sepertinya kerinduan akan “pencerahan” semakin dirasakan oleh individu-individu di dalamnya. 

CALIBRATION

Azhari’s sentiments and longing for activities that are indeed based on “passion” are what become “CALIBRATION” reflections. Looks like it’s time for this collective to calibrate itself. We have been in this process of trying “this and that” for four years. On the one hand, this development is organic, but it seems that the longing for “enlightenment” is increasingly felt by the individuals in it.

Rencana konkret pertama adalah mencoba mengintegrasikan hasrat hasrat internal tadi. Dimulai dari ide mengaktifkan kembali soy&zine kembali kepada tujuan hakikatnya yaitu menjadi alat pengarsipan, sarana untuk mencurahkan ketertarikan (atau bahkan kegundahan) akan sesuatu, dan menjadi kendaraan kolektif ini untuk berkawan dan bersosialisasi. Strategi ini diikuti dengan lokarasa yang akan kembali menjadi salah satu media riset kami, dimana sekarang setiap bulanya akan ada menu menu baru yang terinspirasi dari karya-karya yang sedang kami kembangkan. Dan rencananya di Jumat terakhir setiap bulannya, kami akan memulai ritual baru. Soy&zine akan merekap edisi baru yang berisikan konten konten minggu 1 sampai 3, plus konten di minggu ke 4 plus special cover artwork. Di Jumat agung ini, kami juga akan selalu membuat perayaan kecil yang melibatkan tentunya lokarasa sebagai penyedia jasa kuliner, dan tidak menutup kemungkinan melibatkan acara lain seperti talk show atau bahkan format seperti soy&zine. 

The first concrete plan is to try to integrate these internal desires. Starting from the idea of ​​re-activating soy&zine back to its true purpose, which is to become an archiving tool, a means to express interest (or even anxiety) about something, and to become this collective vehicle for making friends and socializing. This strategy is followed by a workshop which will again become one of our research media, where now every month there will be a new menu inspired by the works that we are developing. And the plan is on the last Friday of each month, we will start a new ritual. Soy&zine will recap a new edition containing week 1 to 3 content, plus content in week 4 plus special cover artwork. On this “Holly Friday”, we will also always make modest celebrations involving of course workshops as culinary service providers, and embedded other events such as talk shows or even formats such as soy & zine.

Yah inilah kalibrasi versi kami di awal tahun “Harimau” ini (menurut horoskop cina). Semoga kalibrasi ini bisa membawa damai dan sukacita untuk mengarungi 2022 yang sampai sekarang masih terlihat samar-samar oleh pandemi dan musim dingin di berlin. Tetap sehat dan semangat! Dan jangan lupa rajin menabung, rajin pangkal pandai!

Well this is our calibration version at the beginning of this “Tiger” year (according to the Chinese horoscope). Hopefully this calibration can bring peace and joy to navigate 2022 which until now is still obscured by the pandemic and winter in Berlin. Stay healthy and excited!
